This isn't mass email outreach. You'll research the right publications, tailor every angle to the journalist's beat, and land contextual backlinks and brand mentions that move the needle for our clients.\nIf you've built real relationships with editors and can point to bylines on authoritative outlets, we want to hear from you.\nWHAT YOU'LL DO Research & targeting Scout and vet publications, podcasts, and niche blogs that align with each client's vertical — evaluating traffic volume, domain strength, editorial quality, and audience fit. Assemble focused contact lists using prospecting platforms (MuckRack, Hunter.io, Prowley, OnePitch, or equivalents) and maintain an organized, up-to-date media database. Segment contacts by outlet type — news desks, trade publications, industry influencers, podcasters — so every pitch reaches the right inbox.\nPitching & relationship building Develop unique story angles rooted in client data, case studies, or expert commentary — not generic templates. Write tailored outreach emails that speak to each journalist's coverage area and publication voice. Run multi-touch follow-up sequences that stay helpful without crossing into spam territory.\nNegotiate placement formats: contributed articles, expert quotes, case-study features, resource-page inclusions, and more. Placements & performance Land in-content, do-follow backlinks on sites that meet our quality bar (details below) — contextual relevance is non-negotiable. Secure branded mentions with proper attribution for clients and the agency.\nTrack outreach volume, reply rates, and placement wins; report results clearly so the team can learn and iterate. OUR QUALITY BAR FOR PLACEMENTS Every link you bring in must clear these thresholds: Monthly traffic: 5,000+ verified visits (SimilarWeb or equivalent).\nDomain authority: DR 50+ for mainstream outlets; DR 40+ is acceptable for tightly focused, editorially sound niche sites.\nSpam score: no higher than 10–15% (Moz or comparable metric).\nEditorial standards: active readership, a consistent publishing cadence, and genuine editorial oversight.\nGeography: US-focused or global English-language outlets with meaningful US readership. WHERE WE WANT TO SHOW UP Think Search Engine Journal, Moz, HubSpot, Content Marketing Institute, and MarTech for the marketing/SEO vertical. Forbes, Entrepreneur, Inc., and Fast Company for broader business coverage.\nPlus authoritative corporate blogs (Google Marketing Platform, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Salesforce) and niche partner platforms. If a publication has real editorial weight and the right audience, it's in scope.\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (2+ years of experience) Must-haves At least two years of hands-on experience in digital PR, journalist outreach, or SEO-driven link acquisition. A portfolio of placements on high-authority sites (DR 50+) that you personally pitched and closed.\nWorking fluency with the standard toolkit: Ahrefs, SEMrush, BuzzStream or Pitchbox, Hunter.io, MuckRack, or comparable platforms. A solid grasp of what separates a valuable backlink from a worthless one — anchor text strategy, link relevance, and quality signals. Excellent written English and the ability to write pitches that feel personal, not automated.\nComfort working with US-centric publications and time zones, even if you're based elsewhere. A self-starter mindset — you manage your own pipeline, hit deadlines, and flag issues before they become problems. Bonus points Prior work in the legal, home-services, or digital marketing/SaaS verticals.\nEstablished relationships with editors or journalists in our target niches. A background that blends content marketing with traditional public relations. Familiarity with expert-sourcing channels like
