- Participate actively in all major SDLC activities, including planning, stand-ups, and story time
- Develop skills using TDD and CI practices
- Function as an effective individual contributor, completing tasks independently
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Owners, Development Managers, Quality Assurance, Experience Design, and other technical staff to refine requirements and designs
- Participate on cross-functional teams to deliver solutions from inception through customer delivery
- Improve processes, standards, and practices
- Work alongside more senior developers on complex stories and tasks
- Pair program effectively with developers of varying experience levels
- Develop programs consistent with Sovos coding standards and conventions
- Build expertise in at least one specific technical area (e.g., Database, SAP, Web Development)
- Develop competency in at least one Sovos application
- Locate and update relevant documentation when developing
- Triage and resolve straightforward engineering escalations
- Troubleshoot issues and bugs within your application of expertise
- Leverage AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance development workflows and deliver solutions more efficiently
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent software engineering experience
- Basic understanding of version control systems, preferably Git, including common workflows such as committing, branching, and merging.
- Basic knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write simple queries (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE) and understand relational database concepts.
- Basic programming experience with C# and .NET, with an understanding of object-oriented principles and the ability to read and modify existing code.
- Demonstrable experience using AI tools to solve basic problems and assist in the development of simple applications or features.
- Willingness to learn and grow in a collaborative, technical environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
