This role will serve as the main engineering point of contact for surface facilities within their assigned field area, with a focus on maximizing production, minimizing downtime, and achieving Goal Zero HSE performance.Accountabilities:For the area of the field to which they are assigned, the Process Engineer is responsible for:Surveillance:Maintaining awareness of the state of the surface facilities through instrument data (e.g., PI trends), relationships with field operators, and direct observation in the field.Maintaining awareness of the field business context, with emphasis on surface-related costs and value drivers.Troubleshooting:Understanding the root causes of equipment and system failures.Actively participating in the MTO (Manage Threats and Opportunities) process.Proposing and justifying solutions for failures, then developing the MoC (Management of Change) and overseeing execution of those solutions (typically by Brownfield team).
Optimization:Collaborating directly with production engineering to optimize the full value chain from reservoir to sales point.Understanding the limits of the system and current performance in relation to those limits.Supporting the WRFM production system optimization process through leading facility reviews and supporting well reviews.Proposing and justifying projects to safely increase value through increased production or reduced costs, then developing the MoC and overseeing execution (typically by Brownfield team).
Process Safety:Ensuring that the MoC process is rigorously followed.Owning critical documents (primarily P&IDs and Cause-and-Effect matrix).
Supporting HSE incident investigations as required.Supporting new and revalidation of existing Process Hazard Analyses (such as HAZOPs).
Applying Continuous Improvement / Lean practices across all areas to systematically reduce costs, increase production, and enhance safety.
This includes documenting, sharing, and adopting lessons learned and best practices inside and outside Shell.Dimensions:The asset currently includes two central processing facilities in SOV South and a new facility under construction in Bajada de Añelo, with approximately 130 wells and associated pipelines.Requirements:Approximately 5 years of experience as a Professional Engineer with a degree in Chemical Engineering.Knowledge in Process Engineering; experience as Process/Facilities engineer in plant/field is highly desirable.Native Spanish speaker with proficiency in English.Knowledge in separation technology, liquids recovery, stabilization, and gas treatment.Experience with process engineering design tools such as UniSim, Pipesim.Understanding of Asset Integrity - Process Safety Management concepts and processes.Familiarity with Shell and industry design standards and codes, such as DEPs, PRS, and API standards.Basic knowledge of Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) techniques, including Causal Learning.Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams including operations, leadership, finance, and engineering.Awareness of MTO, PSO, WRFM, and Alarm Management processes.Change Management skills and understanding of the MOC process.Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.Knowledge of mechanical aspects impacting process design, such as heat transfer, rotating equipment, instrumentation, and piping design.
