You'll primarily extend and enhance both the backend services and frontend interfaces that power our funnel and onboarding builder—work that directly impacts how thousands of customers create and manage their checkout experiences.\nYou'll be working in a mix of modern (object-oriented PHP, Laravel/Symfony, React) and legacy code, shipping features that matter while helping us incrementally modernize the stack. You'll work alongside a team of skilled engineers who care about clean code, pragmatism, and shipping reliable, usable systems. You'll have real impact on a system serving 65,000+ businesses, with the autonomy to incrementally modernize it.\nThe Team & Codebase\nEditor 2.0 team is focused on our funnel and onboarding builder - a visual editor customers use to create their checkout experiences. It's a complex UI with real-time preview, component management, and integrations with the rest of the platform.\nThe stack\nPHP (Laravel/Symfony, OOP)\nReact components for editor UI\nMySQL/PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ\nREST APIs, Composer, PHPUnit, Docker, CI/CD pipelines\nDeployments multiple times per week\nWe use PHPStan, PSR standards, and structured code reviews to maintain quality.\nThe environment\nSmall, autonomous team (4–5 engineers)\nReal ownership of work – not just executing tickets\nDirect collaboration with product and design\nThorough but constructive code reviews\nRemote-first, async-friendly culture\nKey Responsibilities\nWeek to week: Extend backend APIs, business logic, and database queries in PHP\nBuild and enhance UI components using React and modern JS\nShip features end-to-end: from requirements to production deployment\nDebug and fix issues in both legacy and modern code\nWrite automated tests for backend and frontend flows\nParticipate in code reviews and technical discussions\nOver time: Take ownership of specific backend services, API endpoints, or frontend modules\nHelp migrate legacy PHP/jQuery code to modern full-stack patterns\nImprove performance, reliability, and scalability across the stack\nMentor other engineers through pairing and feedback\nRequired Skills\nTechnical: 5+ years of professional experience building and maintaining web applications at scale\nStrong PHP fundamentals: OOP, MVC, Laravel/Symfony or similar frameworks\nExperience with full-stack development (PHP backend + JS frontend)\nComfortable navigating legacy PHP codebases and modernizing them\nExperience with REST APIs, relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL), and caching systems (Redis, Memcached)\nCan write automated tests (PHPUnit, Jest, or similar)\nUnderstanding of frontend basics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript\nFamiliarity with deployment pipelines, Git, and CI/CD\nExperience of using AI Agents and implementing and building AI tools and Agents\nApproach: You default to shipping incremental improvements over big rewrites\nYou ask good questions when requirements are unclear\nYou balance code quality with business needs\nYou're comfortable working in codebases that aren't perfect\nYou can explain technical tradeoffs to non-engineers\nNice to Haves\nExperience building SaaS or e-commerce platforms\nMigrating legacy PHP apps to modern frameworks\nExperience with React or other modern frontend frameworks\nFamiliarity with microservices, modular architectures, or API-first designs\nCloud infrastructure experience (AWS, GCP)\nWhat Success Looks Like\nFirst 30 days\nShip at least one meaningful full-stack improvement\nUnderstand key backend services and frontend flows\nComfortable navigating legacy and modern code\nFirst 60 days\nIndependently own and ship medium-sized features across the stack\nProvide helpful code reviews to the team\nIdentify and propose improvements to full-stack workflows or code\nFirst 90 days\nHave deep context in 1-2 areas and a roadmap for improvements you'd like to drive.\nLead a refactor or perform
