- Support the Construction Site Manager to perform Owner’s representation oversight and quality control for electrical installation.
- Able to read and understand electrical studies and drawings.
- Oversee and confirm compliance with established Lockout / Tagout (LOTO) procedures and coordinate between stakeholders.
- Oversee and ensure compliance with the energization plans and processes and coordinate between stakeholders.
- Inspect installation of wire harness and cable management systems.
- Inspect combiner boxes for arrangement, terminations, proper labeling, grounding and polarity checks.
- Inspect inverter stations wiring and fiber terminated corrected and pre-tested to specifications prior to mechanical completion milestones.
- Verify met stations are installed to specifications;
- Inspect all DC and AC underground cable installation prior to backfill, including testing, and that trenches are compacted to specifications;
- Ensure a clear LO/TO process and energization process is adhered by EPC contractor and provided to Owner.
- Ensure SCADA installation prior to mechanical completion is to full specifications and a clear commissioning process is presented by EPC contractor for first energization.
- Inspect electrical installations including but not limited to low, medium and high voltage cable, and other installations to ensure compliance with design documents.
- Inspect electrical equipment and materials upon delivery and document any non-conformities;
- Quality control inspection of cable splices.
- Quality control inspection of substation foundation to ensure compliance with design documents and specifications.
- Oversee and review electrical testing performed by the EPC contractor.
- Responsible for tracking electrical punch list items and ensuring that they are adequately closed out onsite.
- Monitor EPC contractor progress and report potential delays or schedule risks to critical milestones to Construction Site Manager.
- Recommend acceptance of completed electrical works.
- Report any issues to the Construction Site Manager.
- Review EPC contractor QC documentation and test reports.
- Document and track any non-conformities to closeout.
- Attend all pertinent onsite meetings, including Plan of Day Meetings, Preparatory Meetings, Monthly Meetings etc.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
- Review all drawings, studies and reports for the project and ensure a clear understanding of the requirements
- Ensure EPC Contractors electrical staff and subcontractors complete kick-off meetings and all required trainings, and issue quality procedure documentation prior to commencement of the Work
- Inspection of all electrical work performed by EPC contractor;
- Maintain quality control documentation for all electrical works onsite and electronically;
- Serve as point of contact for electrical questions from the EPC contractor;
- Provide recommendations for acceptance of electrical works;
- Work collaboratively with Construction Site Manager and site management personnel, as well as the Owner Project Management Team;
- Uphold safety standards and requirements and ensures safety protocols onsite are followed;
- Communicate effectively and professionally, and
- Represent the organization with composure and professional candor.
- Read and fully understand the requirements of the applicable equipment supply agreements, which may include any or all the following:
- EPC Agreement
- Module Supply Agreement
- Energy Storage Supply Agreement
- Main Power Transformer Agreement
- Others as applicable
- Read and fully understand the electrical work and QC requirements as outlined in the following documents:
- Energization Plans
- Construction Agreement and Exhibits
- LOTO Procedures
- Others as applicable
- Provide direct interface with site management personnel representing the electrical equipment suppliers.
- Coordinate communications between the electrical equipment suppliers and other contractors onsite.
- Ensure all electrical components delivered to site are inspected in accordance with Owner’s requirements.
- Provide a daily and weekly overview of electrical equipment and equipment suppliers performance onsite and report to the Construction Site Manager and the Owner Project Manager.
- Read and be familiar with the requirements of EPC contractor’s Site Safety Plan.
- Actively participate in EPC contractor All-hands Safety Meetings and morning safety meetings.
- Immediately report any significant injuries to the Construction Site Manager, Owner Project Manager and Owner Safety Manager. In the event of a life-threatening injury or a fatality, follow the Emergency Notification Procedure.
- Manage the completion of the EPC contractor electrical punch list items and review the electrical as-built drawings for completeness.
- Perform a detailed quality check of EPC contractor’s electrical as-built drawings.
- Degree in Electrical Engineering (or other certification/diploma in electrical, plus minimum experience in a similar role on greater than 5 solar projects/1000MW).
- Minimum of five (5) years’ electrical related experience in the solar and/or battery storage construction industry.
- Experience on energy construction sites and the ability to read and understand project engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated understanding of underground MV cable, substation, transmission line and high , medium and low voltage construction.
- Demonstrated understanding of battery storage project integration, auxiliary power systems, and commissioning supervision.
- Demonstrated understanding of cable splicing procedures.
- High voltage certification preferred.
- Demonstrated prior experience in energization and commissioning of power facilities.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and problem-solving techniques.
- Current OSHA 30 certification.
- Comfortable with fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to solve problems and make informed decisions quickly.
- Able to create and maintain inspection documents in Microsoft Excel, Word and PDF.
- Attentive to details and efficiencies.
- Must have a valid current driver license.
