The position will have focus on 2 main areas giving strong support on profitability controls and execution of underwriting strategy following a deep understanding of the business to keep the business growing and improve all the aspect that could affect the profitability of our P&L; contributing to the portfolio management process, acquisition and retention of DM A&H; business through new/existing partnerships along with supporting the DM Regional Head**MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:- Monitoring of P&L; by Line of Business including control at Sponsor and product Level
- Develop respective Actual vs Expected controls and processes to monitor frequencies and severities of main sponsors and products giving proactive recommendations local teams and the region on those improvement areas.
- Drive data quality improvement initiatives for Direct Marketing to control the portfolio.
- To build regional process and reporting to deep dive into the portfolios including:- Frequency and severity analysis (also focused on Referrals)
- P&Ls; by account and/sponsor (also focused on Referrals)
- To automate quarterly Account Management Report.
- Initiate corrective actions on products and/or programs that are deviating from plan results.
- Retrospective analysis for sponsors in where we invest in upfront
- Work with the Actuarial team in regard to ULR and reserves, monthly AvE analysis, Quarterly Reserve Reviews, identifying and analyzing portfolio trends and in Portfolio Reviews.
- Active engagement and regular meetings with claims to review trends, potential issues and opportunities for underwriting actions and improvements.
- To support Intensive and continue training sessions for current team and new Uws
- To support Referral process and be in charge of complex deals/Cases taking the UW process directly from the Region with support of local UW and Commercial teams including Referrals and Financial Models with main goal is to release time and decompress local teams.
- Manage the DM Underwriting function across our Latin America operations.
- Ensure timely and effective execution of underwriting guidelines, authorities and A&H; policy and procedures.
- Underwrite Risks that are outside of local authority levels support respective referrals with high quality recommendations when outside of the regional authority levels.Develop best practices and ensure their execution relative to the underwriting and structuring of “DM programs”, including but not limited to acquisition costs, solicitation costs, profit shares, premium booking (monthly vs. annual) and performance review schedules.
- Perform underwriting audits and provide recommendations that will improve the quality of our DM business throughout the region.
- Work in coordination with Operations, Legal and Claims to support the needs of the countries in following the best practices in each portfolio.
- Support product/coverage initiatives - new and/or enhancements to existing products/coverages; hybrid products; or new distribution of new or existing products.Work Experience**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:- 3-4 years Underwriting DM businesses.
- Spanish and English language fluency
- Experience in Accident & Health products (Unemployment Insurance would be an advantage)
- Experience with pricing product distribution and structuring programs
- Software Knowledge: Strong Excel, PowerPoint, and Word capabilities; database and query, programming, Qlikview knowledge a plus including reporting and dashboards
- Strong communication (written and oral) skills, attention to detail, time and organization management skills, problem-solving attitude
- Forecasting and planning knowledge.
- Proven negotiation skills, gained through established broker/client relationships
- High prioritization skills
- Ability to be innovative and creative in order to develop new opportunities
- Demonstrated ability to work well independently, as well as in a team environment
- Able to work in a fast paced, multitask environment
- University graduate, Technical Careers preferred (Business, Actuarial Science, Engineering, etc.)
